Bleachworks

From the mid-1700s when the manufacture of linen became one of Scotland’s most important industries, bleachfields were needed to whiten the cloth woven in linen mills  The biggest bleachfield in Britain was in the Perthshire village of Luncarty. Though the bleachworks closed in 1996, former workers recall the hey-day of that industry.
